Lisbon, October 28, 2023 – Bloq.it, a leading provider of smart locker technology, is excited to announce a strategic partnership with GLS to power their parcel locker network across Europe, starting in Italy and Spain with the new NEXT autonomous Locker solution.

The initial pilot, which will go live as early as March 2025, is part of a larger scale initiative for GLS to heavily expand their locker fleet across their main European markets, which grow by thousands of Lockers across the next few years.

The agreement was closed at the recent Parcel+Post Expo in Amsterdam, where the two companies aligned on the shared vision of accelerating the adoption of Smart Lockers in last-mile logistics. Bloq.it’s cutting-edge NEXT Locker will enable GLS to quickly expand their network of Lockers in key markets.

“This partnership marks a significant step forward in our mission to accelerate the adoption of out of home deliveries in the last-mile,”
said Miha Jagodic, CEO at Bloq.it. “Having GLS as a partner shows us we are moving in the right direction, and it’s an honour to be trusted by yet another industry leader.”

This partnership aims to bring improved service levels and operational benefits to the GLS network. By deploying Bloq.it’s Smart Lockers: NEXT, GLS will be able to expand their network faster than before, as the lockers are off-grid, expanding the potential location pool, and can be deployed in minutes, allowing for fast network expansion in key markets.

“This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to growth and excellence in the last mile delivery space.” – said Johan Holstein, Last Mile Director at GLS, to announce this new partnership.

The GLS group already counts over 90.000 OOH points, across multiple European countries, which are a mix of Parcel Shops and Smart Lockers. Under the new strategy, GLS wants to heavily expand this number over the coming years, growing their Parcel Locker fleet, and positioning themselves as the forefront of this sector.
